Berkeley Brown Jewellery Design

About the Artist

Picture
Berkeley Brown grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada where she graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing from the the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. She completed her degree with the solo exhibition, Whisked Away, in October 2009.

In addition to Whisked Away, Berkeley has participated in a series of group exhibitions, including Connection at Zilberschmuck Art Jewellery in Toronto, eXtreme Tea at the Houston Centre for Contemporary Craft in Texas and in 2009 she won the NICHE Student Award from Philadelphia's NICHE Magazine.

Berkeley enjoys making precise
, technical jewellery, while incorporating playful elements of movement, interaction, repeating forms and alternate materials. Her recent jewellery is inspired by the passion surrounding food and cooking. Necklaces inspired by whisks, tea infusers that function as lockets and rings that spin like flour sifters, all turn this concept into jewellery.

Berkeley moved to Glasgow, Scotland at the beginning of 2010, where she spent time as an Artist in Resident at the Glasgow School of Art, in addition to working as a studio jeweller for an independent jewellery gallery. She recently moved back to Halifax, NS, where she is currently designing and making a new collection of jewellery.
